I’m not a doctor, but I’ve spent a lot of time researching and experimenting with what works for my skin. Because I’m very sensitive to products and treatments, I’m cautious about injectables—while I’m not against Botox, I’m unsure how my body would react, so I’ve chosen a different path. This article shares my approach to aging gracefully, focusing on gentle, effective skincare ingredients, holistic techniques, and everyday habits that support healthy, youthful-looking skin.
Skincare Ingredients
Retinol Retinol is still my current go-to and a staple in my routine. Supports collagen, improves texture, reduces fine lines.
Natural Oils Oils rich in essential fatty acids help improve skin elasticity, strengthen the skin barrier, and enhance moisture retention. My current favorite is rosehip oil, which I use as the final step in my nighttime skincare routine.
Antioxidant Serums Vitamin C and Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) help neutralize free radicals, brighten skin tone, and improve overall texture.
Peptides Peptides help signal the skin to produce more collagen, supporting firmness and elasticity over time. I’ve been incorporating this into my lip balms to try to get ahead of fine lines
Tools and Treatments
Gua Sha I’ve been very into facial rolling and am now starting to experiment with Gua Sha. Daily facial massage with a Gua Sha stone can increase circulation, relax tense muscles, and support a lifted, toned appearance.
Red Light Therapy At-home or in-office red light treatments may support collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve skin firmness over time.
Microneedling Microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production, smooths fine lines, and enhances skin texture. Professional treatments tend to be more effective than at-home rollers.
Lifestyle Habits
Sun Protection Daily sunscreen use is one of the most effective ways to prevent premature aging and protect collagen. I use a physical SPF 50 sunscreen every day. Newer formulas also incorporate blue light protection, which is especially relevant for my lifestyle.
Diet and Hydration A nutrient-rich diet supports skin structure and elasticity, while proper hydration helps maintain a plump, healthy complexion.
Sleep Positions This one is definitely the most challenging for me! Sleeping on your back can help reduce the formation of “sleep lines” caused by prolonged pressure on the face.
