The At-Home Manicure

An at-home manicure isn’t just about polished nails. It’s about the ritual. Setting aside even 30 minutes creates a pause in your day, a moment where you focus on yourself and nothing else. Put your phone away, play your favorite music, or sit in comfortable silence. This time is yours. Doing my manicure in the comfort of my own home is the ultimate choice in self care.

  • Clip your nails, removing most of the length you wish to shorten.
  • Using a glass file, shape the nails to your desired final form.
  • With a glass cuticle remover, gently push back the cuticles.
  • Using a fine-grit nail buffer, smooth the edges to remove excess skin and lightly buff the nail surface to eliminate shine.
  • Then, using a cuticle nipper, carefully trim any remaining dry cuticles.
  • Apply a nail strengthener.
  • Follow with a flesh-colored, ridge-filling base coat.
  • Apply two coats of lacquer.
  • Finish with a top coat.
  • Apply drying drops to moisturize the cuticles and speed up drying time.

An at-home manicure is a reminder that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. It can be as simple as carving out time to care for your hands—and, in doing so, caring for yourself. In these quiet moments, you’re not just grooming; you’re restoring balance, one brushstroke at a time.
