The first signs of aging often appear where our skin is thinnest—and our hands are among the most telling. Constantly exposed to sunlight, environmental stress, and frequent washing, the delicate skin on our hands loses collagen and elasticity faster than other areas. Below are some of my recommendations and favorite products to attempt to slow down that process:
SPF Hand Cream: It’s easy to forget about your hands when you’re rushing out the door, but they’re constantly exposed to the sun—especially while driving. An SPF lotion typically absorbs better than a traditional sunscreen. Versed Replenishing Body Lotion SPF 30 is one of the only ones I’ve found that protects without feeling heavy.
Exfoliant: Tenoverten The Rewind Exfoliator and Versed AHA Exfoliating Body Scrub both combine AHAs with gentle physical exfoliants to double up on results—sloughing away dullness and revealing fresh, smoother skin. I aim to exfoliate a couple of times a week, though I could probably benefit from doing it more often!
Hand Serum: I love a good serum—and the hands are no exception. I prefer a serum over a retinol hand cream since it lets me tailor my routine and control what each product does. Tenoverten The Age-Defying Serum is a staple in my beauty bag.
Hand Cream: The best hand cream depends on how dry your skin is. My hands tend to be extremely dry, and I love the rich feel of Shikai Borage Therapy Hand Cream.
Cuticle Oil: Anything will do—just be sure to use it regularly. I like to create my own custom blend with ingredients I love, but there are plenty of great pre-made options if DIY isn’t your thing.
Bonus Tip: When my hands are especially dry, I finish my routine by sealing everything in with a layer of Aquaphor to lock in moisture.
