One of my biggest frustrations with capsule wardrobes is that they always include the same pieces: the white button-down shirt, the ballet flats, the crossbody bag. I don’t subscribe to those staples. I prefer to always be a little alluring—and because of that, my capsule wardrobe looks different. I get asked about my style often, so I figured it’s worth sharing the pieces I consider essential. As a general rule, everything I wear is black—but feel free to substitute the colors that suit you best.
Cashmere sweater – It’s worth it. You want to be touchable.
T-shirt cut to your proportions – I love to show just enough to make the mind wander. For me, that means slightly sheer and with a deep V.
Silk tank – I love this with skinny jeans and a leather jacket just as much as I love to sleep in it. Quince offers a washable version that I adore.
Leather jacket – Always chic. Instantly makes any outfit more interesting.
Sandals – I love a wedge. Provides the height I crave while remaining comfortable.
Jeans that flatter – For me, that’s a dark-wash skinny jean.
Sweatshirt – Casual can still be sexy. I love an oversized option just as much as a cropped one.
Boots – Preferably high-heeled. I recently switched to a chunkier heel—it can still be sexy if it’s high enough!
Sneakers – I prefer something unexpected, like Keds, but there are so many great options now.
Silk bow-tie blouse – Instead of the white button-down shirt. Looks great tucked in or left loose and paired with a blazer.
Oversized cardigan or wrap – Looks just as good with denim shorts and a silk tank as it does over the “wear-everywhere” dress.
A wear-everywhere dress – Choose a fabric that travels well and flatters your shape. My go-to has ruching, so even when I’m not feeling I look my best, it makes me look like I am.
Denim shorts – Such an underrated basic. I love mine a bit distressed.
Statement heels – Red is always a classic, but go with whatever makes you feel your best.
Blazer – Dresses up a casual look and adds an unexpected twist to an evening one.
Lightweight jacket – A utility jacket is timeless, but I also love a suede moto or a Members Only bomber.
Structured top-handle bag – I’m obsessed with carrying mine by the handle—it just hits different. I get that it’s not always practical, but if you can, I highly recommend it.
This doesn’t cover everything, but it’s a good start toward building a closet where all your pieces work together.
